That’s a wrap for
King of The Hammers 2022! First time out there racing for my copilot(
Jon Arnold) and I and we pulled of a 4th place Pro Modified UTV finish!
We worked our freaking butts off to make it happen and everything came together!
Early on last year we Teamed and partnered with
Nitro Racing Parts and Minor Investments and set out to build a race car that I could be competitive in! After weeks and months of late nights in the garage we still had to finish some last minute things once we got to the lake bed but we got it done a felt that we had a very solid race rig! Thanks to
American Armor Coatings and
Murray Powersports for helping us build such a beautiful machine!
Pre running was an eye opener of how gnarly the rock trails were and how tough and brutal of a race course it was going to be, thank god for those Prp seats I got from
All Thingz UTV. It’s also amazing how capable these UTVs are! We went up and down some shit that I can’t even explain and if I tried to tell you, you wouldn’t believe me! Out of the whole race and all of our pre running those
MRT - Motoracetire.com tires crawled up everything and never even had a flat!
Qualifying day rolls around and I had all my lines picked out and was ready to go, after I took off I was going good and when I rounded the corner before the big rock wall there was 2 massive bolders(that weren’t there earlier in the morning)in the line that I had picked so I had to adapt and take another line and it cost me some time. We still managed a top 21 starting spot which is not bad but not where I wanted to be.
Race day: We take off and immediately start picking off spots one at a time. For my first time racing in the desert I was having to learn what the machine was capable of and how to keep the pace in the dust. Thankfully those
EBC Brakes Racing would shut those 35s down in hurry when I needed them to but That
PPEI Tuning - Redefining The Limits paired with my
Trinity Racing exhaust and WBB were putting the power down and We made it past several strong competitors on lap one and made up a lot of spots, we got passed back by a few when I made a rookie mistake and blew a belt @98mph in the lake bed. Jon boy made quick work of a belt change and we were back to doing work, into the rock trails we had a clean and smooth run thru all the rock canyons and we’re able to pass several more people. We clicked off Spooners, outer limits, sledge, aftershock, chocolate thunder etc and all went by quickly. Those
Todd Keller ball joints and NRP tierods, sway bar links and radius rods took a straight beat down in the rocks and a failure never even crossed my mind. We made it out of the rocks in one piece and headed back to hammertown where we pulled off a 4th place Pro Mod finish and a Top 5 overall finish!
