Best Polaris RZR Differential Upgrade: RS1 Conversion or Beast Mode?

by Dustin Robbins 09 Oct 2026
Beast Mode differential components with pins, sprague, and armature kit beneath the title Polaris RZR Differential Upgrades: RS1 Conversion vs. Beast Mode.

For a compatible Polaris RZR, our top recommendation is the All Thingz UTV RS1 conversion if you are prepared for fabrication work. If you want to retain your existing differential and upgrade its internals, the ATU Beast Mode kit is the more direct option. The right choice starts with your exact model and the work you want to take on.

RS1 conversion: our top recommendation for a fabrication project

The All Thingz UTV differential conversion package includes an East Lake differential, mounting bracket, electrical plug, and hardware. The linked package is listed for the Polaris RZR XP 1000 2014+; confirm your exact application with us before ordering.

This conversion requires fabrication. It can be completed in as little as five hours with the right experience, tools, and preparation, but that is not a fixed installation time for every machine or installer.

The bracket uses 11-gauge steel with a black powder-coated finish. The listing notes that wiring can be completed by splicing into the factory harness, and installation and cutting instructions are not included.

Check your winch location: this version does not allow a winch to mount over the differential. Account for that before choosing the package.

ATU Beast Mode: upgrade the differential you already have

The ATU Beast Mode front differential upgrade kit is our in-house internal upgrade for the listed RZR XP 1000 and XP Turbo applications. It replaces the shorter stock components with longer 2014 XP 1000-style internals.

The kit includes:

  • A pre-loaded 2014-model sprague with longer rollers and H-clips
  • A machined spacer
  • An ATU AR506 six-tooth armature plate
  • An ATU heavy-duty roll pin

This is the plug-and-play internal-upgrade option compared with the fabrication required for the RS1 conversion. You retain the existing differential, but it still needs to be opened for the kit installation. The pre-loaded components are not a complete replacement differential.

Choose the correct Beast Mode option

The product page separates these applications:

  • XP 1000 with 22-spline axles
  • XP 1000 with 28-spline axles
  • XP 1000 High Lifter, 2015–2016
  • XP 1000 Trails & Rocks and High Lifter, 2017+
  • XP Turbo

Do not choose solely by the RZR name. Match the model, trim, and axle-spline configuration to the listed option. If the differential or axles have already been changed, include that information when you contact us.

Which upgrade should you choose?

Choose the RS1 conversion when you want our recommended conversion route and have the fabrication skills, equipment, or installer to complete it. Review the winch restriction and installation requirements first.

Choose Beast Mode when you want to upgrade the internals of your existing compatible differential without undertaking the RS1 conversion. Plan for differential disassembly and installation, even though the kit's sprague assembly is pre-loaded.

These packages take different approaches. Compare the complete installation, not just the parts price, and confirm what your machine needs before starting.
